Watercolor Color Painting All Levels

Class will be responsive to the needs of the students, and will explore various techniques, and styles. The focus of the class will be landscape, and the current season, but florals, figurative and still life will also be done. Students can work on their own, but each week will feature a step by step demo. Choosing a color palette to fit the subject, under-painting, use of sedimentary colors versus dye color, spatter and different types of brushes, and masking will be covered.

Learn the basics of painting with Watercolors, Oil, Acrylics or Pastels. Composition, lighting and values are discussed. You’ll learn how to choose colors and how to apply them in layers using several techniques including palette knife. Each student works on their own artwork and at their own pace. You have a choice to choose one or more mediums, however, it is advised to learn one or two mediums only in a session (preferably one). This will give you enough time to focus and to explore different types of paintings using that medium. We will work from still life setup or from a reference photo. You may choose landscape, seascape, floral, still life, figurative and/or portraits. Beginner as well as experienced painters are welcome.

Head to Tail: Drawing Humans & Animals

Portraits: Learn to draw a face from a variety of angles and achieve a good likeness of the individual. Proportions will be demonstrated, as well as the foreshortening that occurs when the face is seen at an angle. An assortment of faces will be drawn which will include different ages, gender and ethnic type. There will be several demonstrations and a lot of hands-on instruction. Examples of the Masters will be shown and discussed.
Animals: Learn to draw Animals working from simple shapes towards complex shapes, Anatomy will be discussed. Proportions and textures will be taught. Many different types of animals & birds will be drawn. Demonstrations are abundant, as well as hands-on corrections. Expect numerous Hand-outs.
All levels welcomed.

This class is designed especially for those who have been hoping to join Paper as Palette but haven’t had the opportunity. A fresh start with fellow beginners ( to this class) makes it easy to explore without feeling like you’re jumping into the middle of someone else’s journey.
Discover the joy of transforming paper into paint: layering textures, experimenting with color and composition, and using torn and cut shapes to build expressive artwork. We will focus on foundational collage techniques with optional introductions to watermedia for those who want to expand.
Expect guided instruction, approachable projects, and lots of encouragement as you learn to combine paper, design principles, and playful creativity into finished mixed-media pieces. Prior experience not required. Curiosity encouraged.

Immerse yourself in a creative journey that blends art, imagination, and personal expression. In this 8-session series, you’ll explore the intuitive process of collage inspired by the principles of SoulCollage® - an approach that transforms found images into deeply meaningful works of art.
Through cutting, layering, and assembling, you’ll create a personal deck of 24 collaged cards that capture the many facets of your personality, experiences, and creative spirit. Each session offers a welcoming, judgment-free space to experiment with color, composition, and symbolism as you let your intuition guide your artistic choices.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or new to creative exploration, you’ll find inspiration, relaxation, and a renewed connection to your inner artist. Come alone or with friends and enjoy an afternoon of art making, reflection, and discovery.
