Watercolor Color Painting All Levels

Monday 1:30- 4:30 pm
Class will be responsive to the needs of the students, and will explore various techniques, and styles. The focus of the class will be landscape, and the current season, but florals, figurative and still life will also be done. Students can work on their own, but each week will feature a step by step demo. Choosing a color palette to fit the subject, under-painting, use of sedimentary colors versus dye color, spatter and different types of brushes, and masking will be covered.

Learn the basics of painting with Watercolors, Oil, & Acrylics Composition, lighting and values are discussed. You’ll learn how to choose colors and how to apply them in layers using several techniques including palette knife. Each student works on their own artwork and at their own pace. You have a choice to choose one or more mediums, however, it is advised to learn one or two mediums only in a session (preferably one). This will give you enough time to focus and to explore different types of paintings using that medium. We will work from still life setup or from a reference photo. You may choose landscape, seascape, floral, still life, figurative and/or portraits. Beginner as well as experienced painters are welcome.
Note: Supplies are not included.

Beginning and Continuing students welcome,.
Study the essentials of drawing through a variety of subject matter, focusing on the formal elements of line, shape, tone, form, space, and depth. Composition will be emphasized. We will cover drawing still-life, animals, perspective, nature & portraits. We will draw from life when-ever possible to train your eye to see nuances and detail. You will be shown how to render the look of 3 dimensionality through the use of value: using high-lights, mid-tones and shadow. There will be a short demonstration in every class as well as individual attention to all students. All levels welcome – beginners encouraged!

Stacked Paper Design

In this engaging mixed-media class, students will explore gelli plate printing as a way to create richly colored, one-of-a-kind painted papers. Gelli printing is a simple and intuitive form of monoprinting that allows for playful experimentation with color, texture, and layering—no prior experience required.
During the first part of the session, students will focus on creating a collection of painted papers using a variety of gelli plate techniques. In the following weeks, these papers will be cut and stacked into layered compositions, revealing rhythm, pattern, and visual movement through straight-edge shapes and thoughtful placement.
This class is ideal for anyone interested in process-based exploration, collage, and surface design. Come unwind, experiment, and learn a versatile creative approach in a supportive studio environment.

Independent Visual Journeys to Abstraction - All Levels

This independent 4 week-study style class is designed for beginning through advanced artists who want to loosen personal habits, expand creative possibilities, and deepen their own visual language through intuitive and experimental mixed-media processes.
Students will be guided through a series of demonstrations and open-ended explorations that encourage individual decision-making and personal direction. Techniques and topics may include:
• Expanding your existing knowledge of experimental materials and processes
• Approaches to starting an abstract work
• Exploring mandala-inspired structure, repetition, and pattern
• Developing work through intuition, reflection, and personal response
While the instructor will provide demonstrations, prompts, and guidance, students are encouraged to follow their own artistic instincts and work at their own pace. This class emphasizes creative exploration, experimentation, and personal growth within a supportive studio environment.

Immerse yourself in a creative journey that blends art, imagination, and personal expression. In this workshop, you’ll explore the intuitive process of collage inspired by the principles of SoulCollage® - an approach that transforms found images into deeply meaningful works of art.
Through cutting, layering, and assembling, you’ll create a personal deck of collaged cards that capture the many facets of your personality, experiences, and creative spirit. Each session offers a welcoming, judgment-free space to experiment with color, composition, and symbolism as you let your intuition guide your artistic choices.
Whether you’re brand new to SoulCollage® or a seasoned practitioner, this 6-week class meets you where you are - inviting newcomers to begin creating their deck while offering experienced participants the space to deepen, expand, and evolve their existing cards and practice.
By the end of the series, you’ll have a deck of expressive collage cards and the insight to use them as a source of artistic inspiration, journaling prompts, or personal reflection.
