Learn layering techniques using multiple transparent glazes, gold leafing with collage, and texture with various tools. Explore creative ways of combining watermedia and acrylics. Emphasis on underlying abstract design structure enables you to employ these techniques to enhance both your representational and abstract painting. Call for materials list. Studies will include character design, character development, narrative art and composition. Students will develop the skills needed to write and illustrate their own comic strips. Bring a 2B pencil, black micron pen, white Magic Rub or Mars eraser, ruler (at least 18" in length) T square, Ames lettering guide, drafting tape, 14 x 17 Bristol vellum finish drawing pad, and sketchbook 9 x 12 or larger (your preference.) This is a unique structured drawing course with the emphasis on representational drawing. It was developed by Judy Stuss and geared to age and experience. By mastering and understanding the basic elements of shape children learn to draw 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects. Developmentally appropriate exercises are designed to enhance fine motor skills and visual awareness. It helps the more experienced artist develop her or his drawing skills, while being a comprehensive basic drawing course for the beginner. Masterpieces are completed in class and students are encouraged to exhibit their works in our ongoing art shows. Work is done with pencils and markers on paper.
