Colored Pencil

Draw and paint with colored pencils. Learn how to use colored
pencils for creating realistic effects, how to mix, blend, layer,
glaze; and how to use the 'aquarelle' colored pencils to create
watercolor paintings. For dry pencil techniques bring white
vellum paper and medium to dark toned pastel paper. For
watercolor (aquarelle) pencils bring 140 lb watercolor paper cold
or hot press and brushes. Landscape, portrait, and figure
references will be available in class. Bring sets of 10, 12 or
more colors in both dry and/or aquarelle pencils. Drawing in
'black and white' is also encouraged in this class.

Explore creative ways of combining watermedia and acrylics.

to employ these techniques to enhance both your

Chinese Brush Painting

Using primarily ink and mineral colors (or watercolors) as the
medium. Students will learn step by step various techniques of
freehand style brush works and be able to know how to use
simple brush strokes to create vivid images of flowers, birds and
fishes. Students will also learn how to incorporate texture and
unique wash techniques essential for landscape painting.
Individual attention will be given to students of all levels. For
new students, there will be an introductory painting kit available
for purchase. ($35.00 payable to the teacher.)

Introduction to Stone Carving

This course is intended as an introduction to time-honored hand-
carving techniques for sculpting stone. We will be working
outside weather permitting. It is intended as an ongoing class.
We will work through summer and fall until it is too cold to work

instructor for a fee of $50.00 or you may bring your own material.

Draw, impress and print your own original designs based on
nature themes and images. Create your own printing block
using thin malleable sheets of foam and an Ebony pencil (or
other thick dull tipped utensil or pen that can press easily into
the foam without puncturing it.) We will be printing our design in
color repeatedly in a way that creates a pattern. Please bring a
sketchpad and an Ebony pencil.
